渣浆泵从物理学原理上讲属于离心泵的一种，从概念上讲指通过借助离心力（泵的叶轮的）的作用使固、液混合介质能量的一种机械，将电能转换成介质的动能和势能的设备。渣浆泵的名称是从输送介质的角度来划分的一种离心泵。

为不影响起重设备吊装，当管线架在泵和电动机的上方时。管线要有足够的高度。输送腐蚀性的管线不宜安排在原动设备的上方。管廊下部管线的管底至地坪的净距离不应小于4m以检修要求。

3、闭式叶轮：该型式的叶轮正常效率较高。且在长期运行中情况比较，采用该型式叶轮的泵轴向力较小，且可以在前后盖板上设置副叶片。前盖板上的副叶片可以叶轮进口的旋涡损失和颗粒对密封环的磨损。后盖板上的副叶片不仅起平衡轴向力的作用,而且可以防止悬浮性颗粒机械密封腔对机械密封起保护作用。但该型式叶轮的无堵性差，易于缠绕，不宜于含大颗粒（长纤维）等末经处理的污水介质。
